Work Orders
The term "Work Order" is a much overused term in the Public Works industry. Why? Because it can mean so many different things to so many different people.
For most daily operations the user will use the daily activities to enter data. This may be the work assigned in the morning and reported back to the supervisor in the afternoon.
In PubWorks a Work Order is a management tool to create recurring and non-recurring tasks, sometimes this can be far into the future. For example; when replacing a retroreflectivity sign with a 10-year life PubWorks can automatically create a work order 10 years into the future to replace that sign. Once the parameters for tracking replacement are established work orders are automatically created without any additional user input.
